Scalpel Eye is a Sound System project that presents a series of short sound works pressed to one-off vinyl dub-plate, played back through a vintage Garrard record player, amplifier and bass rig. Some combinations have been set-up to embrace contrast: digitally recorded high resolution sound works pressed into analogue vinyl dub-plate with its surface noise, crackle and gentle decay over multiple plays; the inherent hums and hiss of randomly combined aged sound equipment; the mix of ambient outdoor sound and Scalpel Eye sound works; the Bass Rig interpreting full frequency spectrum sounds; the listener and their choice of dropping the needle into groove.
