I am Standing in a Place is a mediation on the act of recording—a field recording of field recordings—or a poetic-phenomenological analysis of the acoustic-architectural properties of the absent architectural resonances of spaces where buildings once stood. The results of these recordings are played back into the place as a sort of ghostly resonance, no longer that of a now absent building but rather that of the architecture of recovery, creating distance for how these spaces are perceived naturally, and allowing a glimpse of their organic acoustic nature in “a blind yet acutely aware material and physical cartography of the space.”
