Artist: Ariana Tikao & Mahina-Ina Kaui
Where: Wayfinder Towers
This is a karaka, a call to the city, and from the city of Ōtautahi.
Ariana and Mahina invoke their ancestors and the kaitiaki of the land to aid the people of Christchurch at this time of remembrance and envisioning what is to come. Through voice and taoka puoro, they will weave the past with the contemporary sounds of the regenerating city. Beaming out across Ōtautahi in daylight hours from 8m metre high wayfinding towers, like an indigenous Kāi Tahu ‘call to prayer’.
